Rhodes was being held on $1,000,000.00 bond for 3 murders (in the 1st, Rhodes is accused of fatally shooting a man named Christopher Jones and then afterward he allegedly stabbed to death 14 y/o Larry Ordway and his brother, 16 y/o Maurice Gordon so as to ensure that they did not “snitch” on him). While he was in custody on those 3 murder charges Rhodes was arrested for attacking and injuring another inmate, and at his Arraignment on the that charge Rhodes decided to put on his free seminar by threatening Judge Amber Wolf and her family (you can watch a video of the entire incident by clicking here).
The Judge replied, stating “I think you know why. You know exactly why.” and before she could read off the charges Rhodes’ interrupted the Judge stating “I’m going to get out.” After several expletives the Judge Wolf asked Rhodes “Are you done?”. The Judge then began to read the charges into the record stating “You’ve been charged with assault in the fourth degree…” but she was interrupted once again by Rhodes who stated “I don’t care what I’ve been charged with… Don’t you think I’m gonna find out where you live at?” The Judge then asked “So you’re saying you’re going to find out where I live at?” to which Rhodes replied “I don’t give a [expletive] about none of that! You got family! I’ll be out!”
Needless to say Rhodes did not ingratiate himself with the Court, as, after he was removed, Judge Wolf stated that “That was a threat against the court. I’m asking the County Attorney’s office to take that into account and consider what to do with that”, and, naturally, county authorities have reportedly filed additional charges including making terroristic threats and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
Memo to Brice Rhodes: I don’t know if you just think that you’re all bad-ass or if you figure that with 3 murder charges you have nothing to lose, or perhaps you’re trying to set yourself up for an insanity defense? Regardless, I can pretty much guarantee you that Judges (and prosecutors and most jurors) do not consider threats to be run of the mill…
Memo to the Folks: If you ever wanted to know what NOT to do in a courtroom you just got a free seminar. Threatening a Judge is a bad move. In fact, threatening pretty much anyone is a bad move. Unless you are a cat. Then it’s okay….
