Meet 25 year old David West. That’s him below…
And here David is with his girlfriend, who works at a Bradenton, FL Walgreens.
On Valentine’s Day (2016) David showed up at the Walgreens (while his girlfriend was working) intending to ask her if he could bring her lunch. Instead, David, a two time winner of the Florida State PAL Boxing Championships, wound up KO’ing a would-be armed robber who, at that very moment, happened to jump over the pharmacy counter and threaten the pharmacy staff with a gun. The incident was captured on video (which you can watch by clicking here) which begins with 26 year old Anthony Robert Nemeth walking past the customer, his head covered in a gray hooded sweatshirt and his face concealed behind a white towel.
At this point, David, who’s girlfriend happens to work behind the pharmacy counter in the store, approaches Nemeth, who hopped down from the counter to confront him.
David posted a picture of his bloodied boxing hoodie on his Facebook page and would be quoted on the news as saying: “He started fiddling with his hands and went to reach into his pants and that’s when I reacted. I was protecting the one I love. I have to say, she’ s really the reason why I reacted so quickly. It was just instinct to protect her.”
Meantime, Nemeth, who was carted out unconscious and was then taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment was booked into the Manatee County Jail on an armed robbery charge.
In regard to his boxing skills David would say: “If anyone has ever trained, you put your hooks in and I flattened him out on his stomach. He eventually just ended up… I let him roll over, so I had him face-to-face, so I was holding his arms. I just wanted to stop him.” Memo to David West: Epic. Absolutely epic!
