Russell and her husband, 65 y/o Chuck de Caro, were in New Mexico during a cross-country road trip which started in Washington, D.C. and which was due to finish in California. The trip was following the historic line of Route 66, which goes straight through Albuquerque – and the Motel 6 they stayed in was just two miles from the old highway (which is now known as Central Ave SW).
Lynne was reportedly grabbed on Tuesday at approximately 11:30 pm by an unidentified armed robber who demanded valuables from her room. She was saved from the attack after her husband, who has served in the U.S. special forces, exited the shower and ultimately gunned the assailant down, while naked.
Per Lynne: “I opened the door and he materialized out of nowhere; he was inside. And he pushed me into the room and onto the bed and closed the door. We tried to calm the man, ask him not to point the gun because we really couldn’t think what we could give him. It felt to me he was used to doing this, that whatever happened wouldn’t bother him.” In the interim De Caro had exited the shower, naked, and stood in front of the nightstand. Lynne reportedly managed to slip De Caro a handgun during the conversation, by handing him a purse which had a firearm concealed inside. Speaking from his hospital bed Wednesday, De Caro said that his special forces training kicked in and that: “I was determined to save my dream girl’s life – even if it cost my own.”
A gunfight erupted at the OK Corral, er, at the Motel 6 on Route 66 in Albuquerque. Crossfire resulted in De Caro getting shot three (3) times, twice in the abdomen and once in the leg, and with the assailant being killed (albeit dying outside in the parking lot after fleeing the room and collapsing on the pavement).
Memo to the Folks: Don’t drink the Kool Aid. The 2nd Amendment may have saved these two (2) innocent – AND WELL-PREPARED – citizen’s lives; not to fail to mention how it just saved the good taxpayers of the Grand Canyon State a fortune in legal and incarceration fees and costs (likely millions of dollars) for a guy who clearly did not play well with others and whom society is almost certainly better off without.
Guns do not kill people…
Rather people with guns kill people… and sometimes, just sometimes, the right people get killed.
As an aside, there is this to consider as well…
