Gwinnett County, GA Senior Deputy Anthony C. Pesaresi (yeah, that’s him below) was arrested for DUI and 2 counts of child endangerment stemming from his BAC of .111, which was registered after he was involved in a “not at fault” accident in his own personal vehicle while off duty.
Although Tony did not cause the accident, he was legally intoxicated, which is a no-no, especially with kids in the car.
Lesson to the Folks: Just because it is not illegal to drink and drive (** it is only illegal to drive with a BAC of .08+ or while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances to the extent that your “normal faculties” are impaired – well, that is the FL standard anyhow) does not render it a good idea. And if you have both been drinking and have children in the car that you intend to drive then its a piss poor idea. Not only are you risking your children’s safety (in this case the accident was not Tony’s fault… He was an innocent victim to another driver’s antics), perhaps their lives, and your arrest (for felony charges), but you are also setting a bad example for your kids, who will likely model their behavior based upon what they learn from watching you, the parent.
