Answered 12 months ago. I am not a NC lawyer so I cannot comment on matters of NC law or procedure.  However, had you asked this question in Florida, where I have been a practicing criminal defense attorney for 23 years, then I would say that I’d bet a limb that if you don’t stop driving then you will get consolidated into 1 jail cell.

Further, in FL (and I’d also bet that NC has similar provisions), if you rack up 3 DWLS’s then you are subject to being “habitualized” – i.e. treated as a “HTO” (a “habitual traffic offender”) – meaning that your 4th can be charged as a felony, subjecting you to up to 5 years in State prison.

Prosecutors and Judges do not look empathetically upon repeat offenders – folks who continue to cmmit the same offense over and over, and defense attorneys tend to charge such folks more as well.  

Be smart:  Get licensed or do not get behind the wheel of a car.
