Heroin, Driving, Head-On Cop Collision

Memo to narcotics users:  Dope and driving… not a good idea.  Combining heroin, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado and a curvy Delaware road…. that counts as a really bad idea.

In this case 28 y/o Robert C. Rickrode II, allegedly banged up on Horse, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado when he approached a moderate right curve.  Coming in the opposite direction was a 23-year-old female State Trooper and her partner was were in a fully marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria.

Accident reconstruction revealed that the Silverado failed to negotiate the curve and crossed the center line of the road, entering the northbound path of the Crown Victoria. It appears that the female trooper tried to avoid the collision by swerving to the right, but that her Crown Victoria was hit on the right front side by the right front side of the Silverado. The Silverado rolled onto its side but landed upright on the east side of the road, while the Crown Victoria came to a controlled stop on the east side of the road.

Unlike Robert, the Troopers were properly seat-belted and suffered no injuries.  Robert was taken to the hospital but was not released, instead he was transported to jail where he was charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence of heroin, inattentive driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and no proof of insurance.

When it comes to the subject of drinking – or doping – and driving, the best advice that you are ever going to hear is:  “Don’t do it!  Get a DD (Designated Driver), not a DUI”.

Be smart{er than Robert C. Rickrode II}: Don’t drink – or use heroin – and drive, but, if you do, just say “NO{thing}”, don’t blow (in FL your 2nd subsequent refusal is a crime) and call me stat at 305-381-8686, 305-798-2220, **ARRESTED, **305DUI, **MIAMIDUI, **MIAMILAW or **HABERLAW.
