Meet 31 y/o Nathaniel Follette of Madera, California. Yes, that’s his mug shot below:
The booking photo was posted by the Madera police Department after Nathaniel’s arrest for exhibiting a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
Cops had been called to the Rancho San Miguel Market in Madera reference an individual (Follette) who had rode his bicycle into the store and who, after being confronted by store employees who had asked that he leave, instead pulled a pocket knife and stood his ground. When the cops arrived Follette was still brandishing the weapon.
Based upon the allegations (and confirmed – to my mind – by the booking photo) I suspect that Follette has some mental / psychological / psychiatric issues. After all, who, but a disturbed individual, rides a bike into a store, much less instead of leaving pulls a knife and stands his ground? Thus the mugshot makes sense, and it may actually serve Nathaniel well (as proof that he was out of his mind and therefore couldn’t form the requisite intent to have intentionally committed any crime).
Memo to the Folks: Everything that you say – and do – will be recorded and preserved by cops, and can then be used as evidence against you in a subsequent criminal proceeding. Rest assured that neither Prosecutors, Judges nor Jurors are likely to find your antics entertaining, and, most likely, that doing things like crossing your eyes and sticking out your tongue for your booking photo will come back to prejudice / haunt you as your case progresses. Be smart{er} then Nathaniel Follette: When you come into contact with law enforcement please cooperate, invoke, be respectful and let your lawyer sort it out in court.
