Meet Kevin Hargrove of Brooklyn, NY. That’s him below…
Kevin has been dubbed “Diaper Don” over what has become known as the “Hiney Heist” after his arrest on Thursday, April 16th, 2915 and his startling (not to fail to mention significantly more self-incriminating) admission to cops afterward. “If I had to guess I’ve hit every Stop & Shop in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut… I’ve been doing this so long I can’t remember”. Kevin, a young father, told cops that he had taken diapers not only for the benefit of his own family but also that he had been selling them on the street, most of them in fact.
But for his foolish admission (statement to police) Kevin likely would have been arrested and charged with petty theft (a misdemeanor) for the one incident at the lone Stop & Shop where he was caught self-checking out with swapped price tags (from $106.00 to $1.06). However, as a direct and proximate result of his foolish detailed confession Kevin is now accused of striking multiple Stop & Shops more than 100 times, Swap & Shop management has made it a priority to scrutinize years of records and Kevin may face more charges down the pike.
In the more than 100 times that Kevin has “falsified business records” (by swapping price tags, usually from 0.99¢ pie tins) he has racked up more than enough converted Stop & Save dollars to his own, thereby earning grand, instead of petit, larceny charges, in his “Hiney Heist”.
Memo to the Folks: Don’t commit crimes; but, if you do, then please, pretty please, be smarter than Kevin Hargrove and INVOKE! Do not resist, fight or argue; be cooperative and polite, and apart from identifying yourself and invoking your Vth and VIth Amendment rights (to remain silent and for a lawyer) just STFU.
