Escape FAIL!  Kentucky Inmate Breaks both of his Ankles and some Vertebrae when the Knotted Sheets that he was using to Escape from Jail came Undone and he Fell Below is the Louisville, KY Community… Scroll down to read more!

Below is the Louisville, KY Community Correctional Center.  It is located at 316 East Chestnut Street, Louisville, KY 40202.

Per Mark Bolton, the Metropolitan Corrections Director, the institution was neither designed nor was it intended to serve as a secure institution; rather it was originally a work release center which was subsequently and partially converted so as to house minimum security inmates, two (2) of which were 29 y/o Matthew Johnson (pictured below left) and 37 y/o Christopher Cornelius (pictured below right).

These genii were both “guests” of the facility for possession of heroin charges and were considered to be minimum security inmates. They both had “jobs”, serving on cleaning detail, and thus they had easy access to bed linens.  What they did not have, however, was any experience with knot tying…

Officials believe that the dynamic duo had managed to climb an exterior pedestrian walkway which connects two buildings of the facility about fifteen (15) feet to the top and that they then somehow removed razor wire and pulled themselves onto the roof of the facility.  All of this came to light when, at around 9 p.m. on Monday, September 21st, 2015, a nearby hospital worker saw a man climbing down from the roof and called the police.

As it turns out Matt and Chris are no Michael and Lincoln (Wentworth and Dominic); they not get away.  As it happened Matt was first to descend, but, as he was climbing down, a knot on the sheets came loose and he dropped about (twenty) 20 feet to the ground.  Seeing this Chris opted to stay put, being caught shortly afterward, stranded atop the building and trapped behind two generators.  Matt, who fractured both of his ankles and some of his vertebrae in the fall still managed to flee to an awaiting vehicle; unfortunately he was found hiding inside that vehicle during a traffic stop early the following (Tuesday) morning.

Both Matt and Chris now face felony escape charges which could reportedly add one (1) to five (5) years to their sentences, and Sarah Johnson, the woman who had been driving the car in which Matt was found, faces a misdemeanor hindering prosecution or apprehension charge.

Memo to Matt and Chris:   You two wasted your youth.  Had you invested some time serving as either Boy Scouts or Sea Explorers then you would not have had a knot snafu.  FYI… Here is how it’s supposed to be done….

Memo to Matt and Chris continued:   Thanks for the Epic Escape FAIL!  It was fun reading and blogging about….
