ALL LIVES – NOT ONLY BLACK LIVES – MATTER:  Dunkin Donuts Employee writes “#blacklivesmatter” on Coffee Cup that he Served to Anglo Providence Cop Especially when it comes to crossed race police-citizen relations I get that… Scroll down to read more!

Especially when it comes to crossed race police-citizen relations I get that people are upset, that tension are high and that folks want to see change, but the abject stupidity of people never ceases to amaze.

On Friday, October 2nd, 2015 a providence, RI Police Officer was afraid to drink a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee after it had been handed to him with the saying “black lives matter” written on it.

The officer, who did not want to be named, said that the worker did not seem to want to serve him as he was in uniform, that he was concerned that the beverage may have been tampered with and that the employee who handed him the drink in the Atwells Avenue branch on Friday was “rude”.

The Providence Police Union is outraged, calling the incident both “unacceptable and discouraging” and the local Fraternal Order of Police has called for Dunkin’ Donuts to discipline the employee involved.   Per Lt. Roger Aspinall, a Providence Police Union member the slogan “black lives matter” has become anti-police propaganda.  “The Black Lives Matter movement condones violence against police.  Posting stuff like this against our officers in unacceptable.”  Per Clarence Gough, another Providence Police Union member (pictured below middle):  “All lives matter.  When we get a call for service, we don’t ask if the person is black or white.  If they’re Asian or Spanish. We do the best we can for the public at large. That is our commitment to the city. And the country.”

Such idiotic fast food service behavior has been rampant as of late.   Last week a West Hartford, Connecticut Police Officer was told by a Farmington Avenue Dunkin Donuts employee that “We don’t serve cops here.”  Last month Lewisville, Texas Police Officers were denied service at a Whataburger because they were cops and a local South Florida Police Officer was told by an Arby’s employee that he didn’t want to serve her “due to her being a police officer”.

Memo to the Folks:  1)  Things can get better or worse, but this sort of behavior is much more likely to stoke the flames than to starve the fire.  2)  Like it or not cops are people, and like all people they come in many shapes and sizes.  There are some “bad” cops out there to be sure, but there are also some “bad” dentists, lawyers, plumbers, weather forecasters, athletic coaches, teachers, parents, children, cats, dogs, etc… and in all such instances a) the “bad” are heavily outweighed by the “good” and b) it is galactically ignorant to blame the many for the deeds of the few. 3) It is in your interests to be nice to cops, especially if you happen to work in the high robbery target fast food industry, but in all instances the same holds equally true. You never know when you will “need” a cop to save you (or your family), to help you (or your family), to protect you (or your family) to respond to you (or your family’s) emergency, and when they do I’m pretty sure that you will prefer for it to happen without any regard to the color of your skin or your religious preference or any other factor.  Any why?  Because ALL LIVES MATTER.

Memo to the Folks continued:   So the next time that you see a cop smile and say “thank you for your service”, or just mind your own business and keep your trap shut.  “Bad” cops need to be called out, but no more so than “bad” anything else. Naturally you are free to embrace your ignorant and counter-productive beliefs but, if you do, then please also do the rest of us a favor and, like your mom should have taught you, if you have nothing nice to say then keep your mouth shut.  There are much better ways to protest and to take your stand.
