Another Unsolicited & Heart Warming Police Officer Act of Kindness:  Kansas PO Gives Bicycle to Man after Learning that he Walked 5 Hours each way to and from Work Meet Zack Stamper, a Roeland Park. Kansas Police… Scroll down to read more!

Meet Zack Stamper, a Roeland Park. Kansas Police Officer.  That’s him below…

On Tuesday, September 22nd, Zack responded to a call about a suspicious person who was reportedly lurking around Sweeney Park.  Upon arrival at the park Zack observed Samuel  Meixueiro (pictured below) resting on a bench.

Instead of going in with his Taser or gun drawn Zack approached and asked Samuel if he was okay.  Samuel told Zack that he had lost his home after falling on hard times and that he has been sleeping in a church.  He told Zack that he has a job but in order to keep his job he has to walk five to six (5 – 6) hours from Kansas City to Mission and then back to Kansas City every day.  On that particular day Samuel had decided to take a break in Sweeney Park before setting out on his long commute.  Said Samuel of his encounter with Zack:  “As I told him my story he started loosening up. Started realizing I’m not a vagrant. I have a job. I’m doing the best I can.”  And, in response, Zack saved Samuel’s feet and gave him a lift all the way to Mission that morning.

But Zack’s kindness did not stop there.  As Samuel’s story had struck a chord with him, Zack returned later that day and gave Samuel a bicycle and a duffel bag to carry his belongings.  Said Zack:  “I couldn’t imagine spending five hours a day traveling back and forth to work, let alone on foot.”

Zack’s unsolicited acts of kindness literally left Samuel in tears.  Said Samuel of the Zack: “Things are so hard for me right now. Any kind of help is just a blessing.”  Said Zack:  “It made my day.  It made my career.”  Says me:  Officer Zack Stamper, you rock!  Memo to the Folks:  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Yes, there are some “bad cops” out there, but A) they are a small minority and B) the same holds true in all professions and walks of life.  Do not judge the many by the acts of the few.  Most cops risk their lives for you, for your family, for people they don’t know and they don’t think twice about suiting up and possibly being killed in the line of duty.  Most cops become cops due to strong sense of service and community, or for a desire to see justice be accomplished.  Remember this the next time that you see a cop.  Buy her or him a cup of coffee, say “thank you” or just smile and waive.  No matter how much “bad” / negative stuff you hear about law enforcement always remember that the “weeding out” process is ultimately a good thing (“bad cops” will get their due, with interest and extreme prejudice), then think about cops like Zack Stamper and remember that the “good” very much outweigh the “bad”.
