SOME THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW IN ORDER TO PROTECT YOUR KIDS ON HALLOWEEN:
It would be nice if Florida Law mandated signs / warnings like this:
But, sadly, it doesn’t.
While Florida law does preclude sex offenders who are sill under supervised probation from giving out candy or treats, requiring them to turn off their porch lights, close blinds, have no outside decorations, not wear a costume or mask, and not answer their doors for trick-or-treaters, A) these protections only apply to a percentage (currently supervised offenders) of sex offenders; B) those who are not supervised (and some who are but either don’t care or can;t help themselves) will not comply with these rules; C) there are plenty of sex offenders and would be sex offenders who have not yet been caught; and D) many a sick f*ck is not necessarily a sex offender.
So what can you do to have a Grateful Halloween?
3) DO NOT let your kid trick-or-treat alone. If possible have your kid(s) go in a group, and either way please make sure that there is always alert, non-impaired adult supervision.
4) If you are driving, BE EXTREMELY MINDFUL: DO NOT drink or text or engage in any distracting behavior, or you might just have a tragic accident.
PLEASE HAVE A HAPPY, SAFE & FUN HALLOWEEN ~
