Four (4) eleven (11) y/o kids flee drunk driving mom’s crashed car and take refuge in restaurant after she swerves all over road and hits pole Meet 45 y/o Angela Woodworth, of Interlachen, Florida.  Yes,… Scroll down to read more!

Meet 45 y/o Angela Woodworth, of Interlachen, Florida.  Yes, that’s her smirking in the Gainesville Police Department booking photo below…

Angela might have been a “Mom of the Year” contestant for being brave enough to have taken her eleven (11) y/o son and three (3) of his eleven (11) y/o old friends (1 boy and 2 girls) from their Interlachen, FL home to the Gainesville area for a day of fun, but, alas, her lack of impulse control (and apparent substance abuse problem) yanked her out of that contention and instead threw her cranium deep into the Douche of the Day / Complete Douchebag Award competition.  And when you read what happened you will agree that she’s a seriously strong contender…

So off they went, the adult and four (4) tweens, over hill and dale, as they hit the dusty trail (for some thirty (30) miles) from Interlachen to Gainesville, for a day of fun.  And, for a good portion of the day fun is what they had.  They went to a park and played for a while, then grabbed lunch at a Chinese restaurant and then they went bowling, but at the bowling alley Mommie Dearest began her dark descent as, according to the kids, Angela downed two (2) pitchers of beer at the bowling alley…

They then went to the mall where the kids roamed as a pack, unsupervised, whilst Mumzie sat at the bar putting away (or at least paying for and charging on her credit card) four (4) cocktails at Ruby Tuesdays.  At about 8:30 pm Angela drove away from the mall (& RT’s) but it didn’t take long for her prove her inability to drive by swerving along the road until she proceeded to crash her car into a pole, breaking off a side mirror and prompting all four (4) kids to bail the wrecked vehicle and flee from the car, across the street and into Steak n’ Shake.

Once inside the kids told customers what had happened and the police were called.  In the interim, Angela apparently swung her car around, drove across to the Steak n’ Shake (where she parked, but not in a parking space) and made her grand appearance, screaming and demanding that the kids get back in her car.  (As an unfortunate side note for Angela, her verbal tirade was caught on 911 dispatch recordings as a customer happened to be on the phone with emergency services at the very moment that Angela came in, preserving her rant for the prosecution which lays ahead.)  So there she stood, in Steak n’ Shake, yelling at the kids who were literally running away from her all about the restaurant and as she gave chase a customer (who had already called the police) told them to stand on the sidewalk and wait for the police while he kept Mommie Dearest inside.  And as soon as the cops arrived the kids ran to Officer Friendly for safety.
Naturally Angela was in such a state that she refused to cooperate with police (who would write in their report that she “refused to cooperate with officers and showed signs of severe impairment”) and wound up being arrested.  All of the articles that I read indicate that she was charged with four (4) counts of child neglect, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana ( a small amount of pot and a pipe were found underneath the driver seat), and that DCF was called (placing Angela’s son with relatives and returning the other kids to their families), but none of them mention the other obvious charges, e,g, DUI with an Accident , LSA (leaving the scene of an accident), Tampering with Evidence and Resisting Arrest.  Anyhow, add it all up and what’s the sum?  Yup: We have a winner!
Memo to the Folks:  When it comes to the subject of drinking and driving, the best advice that you are ever going to hear is:  “Don’t do it!  Get a DD (Designated Driver), not a DUI” – ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR!  Be smart{er than Angela Woodworth}: Don’t drink and drive, but, if you do, just say “NO{thing}”, don’t blow (in FL your 2nd subsequent refusal is a crime) and call me stat at 305-381-8686, 305-798-2220, **ARRESTED, **305DUI, **MIAMIDUI, **MIAMILAW or **HABERLAW.
