Katlyn was a visitor with her mother and a friend who was to receive treatment for a back problem at the Carolina’s Healthcare System’s Blue Ridge Morganton Hospital when she decided that to take the matter of expediting “wait time” into her own hands. And how did she handle the matter? Simple… Katlyn used a lighter to set off the hospital’s sprinkler and fire alarm system, flooding the emergency room. Cops report that on Wednesday, June 10th, 2015 after waiting nearly an hour and a half for her mother’s friend to be seen by ER staff, a frustrated Katlyn held a lighter to a sprinkler in the ladies’ restroom.
As you can imagine Katlyn’s actions caused more delays for those waiting to receive treatment, not to fail to mention a significant amount of damage to the premises, including but not limited to ceiling tiles which crumbled due to water damage and the damage to the bases of the walls in the restroom due to roughly an inch of standing water which was left in Hurricane Katlyn’s wake.
After the sprinklers went off Katlyn herself was admitted into the ER and checked for exposure to stagnated water from the sprinkler. Afterward she was taken into custody and charged with burning personal property, damage to personal property, and “molesting a fire alarm”.
Memo to Katlyn: No one wants to wait. Personally I hate it. And it doesn’t matter where or when or why as it always sucks. But there is a term for those who exercise judgment such as you / yours, and it is… “sociopath”. Who but a sociopath would “molest a fire alarm”. I guess that you fit that profile, which should not be a surprise as you reportedly also called in a phony bomb threat in Florida. My advise: Get help, and not just lawyer-type help, but mental-type help as well. You need some serious adjustments to your moral compass. If you take this advise to heart then the same will serve a dual purpose: 1) It will assist you in mitigating your sentence in your existing criminal case; and 2) It will serve you in both learning to better cope with the constant curve balls that life throws at us and in making better decisions for however long you may grace us here on Planet Earth.
