On August 26th, 2015, Bindoo Ahluwalia, a passenger traversing a TSA checkpoint at NY’s JFK Airport, removed his Diamond Master watch from his wrist, placed it in a plastic bin and proceeded to go through the security screening.
Betyween the chaos that is TSA screening at JFK and his need to get to the gate for his flight Mr. Ahluwalia apparently forgot about his Diamond Master watch, leaving it in the plastic bin.
Enter Margo Grant-Louree (mug shot is below), a then (and now former) TSA screener, who has since been arrested and charged with both grand larceny (for theft of the watch) and with official misconduct, and who faces seven (7) years in prison.
The incident happened on August 26, 2015 but it was not until Thursday, September 3rd, 2015 that Grant-Louree was arrested. Per representatives of NY’s Port Authority the arrest was made possible by carefully reviewing security footage, which reportedly showed her snatching the watch from the plastic bin and walking away from the checkpoint and into the bathroom. When Grant-Louree exited the restroom and headed back to the security checkpoint she is allegedly caught on camera approaching several co-workers who are frantically searching for something (presumably the missing diamond watch) at which point she turns around and goes back to the bathroom.
Grant-Louree was arrested a week later, on September 2nd, 2015, and reportedly admitted to her arresting officers that she had in fact taken the missing watch, although she claimed to have destroyed it after seeing her co-workers looking for it and becoming nervous about her heist. Of all people you would think that a TSA worker would know that, especially in an airport at a security checkpoint…
Memo to Margo Grant-Louree: Way to go from screener to screenee….
