That said, one of the (few) benefits to being in private criminal defense practice is to be free to decline representation without explanation, and when it comes to the case of the miserable, pathetic piece of human-trash who did this….
well, let’s just say that my decline of representation might not be verbal.
I am not a radical vegan PETA card carrying member who won’t wear leather or eat anything that doesn’t have roots but I have no patience for animal abusers, especially for domestic animal abusers. In case like this I clearly take off my lawyer hat and out on my executioner’s mask…
That said, the cat pictured above somehow survived being shot in the neck with a crossbow in southern Michigan earlier this week and authorities are searching for the person responsible. The black male cat was found in Battle Creek on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 with a crossbow arrow (known as “a bolt”) through its neck. Laurie Sullivan, the woman who found the cat, took it to Turner Veterinary Clinic where the 15-inch arrow was removed.
Laurie Sullivan, a former Battle Creek, MI City Commissioner, said that she found the cat outside her home when getting her recycling bins at about 8:00 am on Tuesday. She said the cat “had been there before” and that she had fed it before at her home. At first she thought the feline had stopped by for a bite to eat, but then saw the arrow in its neck. “I was mortified. He lifted his head and looked at me and let me pick him up.” Laurie said she will keep the cat quarantined in her house while he takes his medication for the next ten 10) days, that she expects him to make a full recovery and will release him when his treatment is complete, “unless someone wants to give him a new home”.
Per Benjamin Huelsbergen of the Turner Veterinary Clinic: “The injury did not cause any muscle or bone damage and the cat was purring and trusting and loving 24 hours later”.
