State Trooper FAIL!  New Jersey State Trooper Sergeant Crashes his Squad Car while On-Duty, has BAC of .16, Attempts to Bribe Victim for $1,000 and is caught on Dash Cam with Vomit on his Shirt… Scroll down to read more!

New Jersey State Trooper Sergeant First Class Michael Roadside has been a BAD COP….

While in his marked squad car Sgt. Roadside… hang on please… I have to pause for a moment because “Sgt. Roadside”…

Anyhow Sgt. Roadside rammed his squad car into Kimberly Wilson, a woman who was driving her Audi at about 2:00 pm on Monday, October 26th, 2015.  Kimberly was not injured, but she was surprised when a disheveled Trooper stumbled up to her. Per Kim she questioned whether Roadside was a police officer because he was “such a mess”.  He was in partial uniform and when she asked why he wasn’t in full uniform and where his weapon was “he opened his shirt and a beer cap and a loaded [gun] magazine fell to the ground”.   After seeing that Kim reportedly yelled at Roadside to get back into his vehicle because she was scared and going to call 911.  At that point Kim claims that Roadside offered her a check for $1,000 if she didn’t call and report the incident.

When non-intoxicated cops arrived on scene dash cam video (which you can watch by clicking here) Roadside immediately professed that “I am not drunk.”  The dash cam’s audio also caught Roadside claiming that he recently had “a prostate surgery” and was “on anesthesia right now”, despite the fact he was almost in uniform, having just left an off-duty construction zone assignment.

Responding officers reported that they “immediately noticed a very strong smell of an alcoholic beverage”, that Roadside was “only partially dressed in uniform”, his speech was slurred, and his shirt “was unbuttoned and appeared to have vomit on it”.

Breath testing would put his BAC at .16 (exactly double the legal limit), which would be consistent with the cardboard case of Coors Light and two open containers that were found inside of Roadside’s crashed patrol vehicle.

Roadside reportedly later confessed to having drank nine (9) beers in two and a half hours and was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and having an open alcohol container in a vehicle.  Notably he was not charged with bribery but he has been suspended without pay nonetheless.

Memo to the Folks – and especially to law enforcement:   Cops are people and they are subject to the same frailties as anyone else.  I don’t know why Sgt. Roadside got banged up on booze in the middle of the day (while performing official tasks, albeit in an off-duty capacity) but, like anyone, I am sure that there is a reason (good, bad or otherwise).  Still, he is a cop, and therefore he must be held to a higher standard than Joe or Jane Average, especially when in uniform (er, most of a uniform, and even if that partial uniform has vomit on it).

Memo to Sergeant Roadside:  I understand that you have nearly thirty (30) years of distinguished service under your belt.  It’s a shame for your career to end on such a sour note.  Still, no one was killed or permanently injured, and for that you must be thankful.  Whatever it is, was or may be that compelled you to act so recklessly I hope that you figure it out, and I wish you a speedy recovery.  I also want to be among the first to wish you good luck in your next career…

When it comes to the subject of drinking and driving, the best advice that you are ever going to hear is:  “Don’t do it!  Get a DD (Designated Driver), not a DUI”.

Be smart{er than New Jersey State Trooper Sgt. First Class Michael Roadside}: Don’t drink and drive, but, if you do, just say “NO{thing}”, don’t blow (in FL your 2nd subsequent refusal is a crime) and call me stat at 305-381-8686, 305-798-2220 or 1-888-SHARK-8-1.
