Francois, a FL resident is now a literal guest of the State, having agreed to serve a fifteen (15) year prison term for murdering his, wait for it…. “cross-dressing voodoo priest lover” who he claimed had threatened to kill him with “yellow magic powder”.
Following a heated argument in February 2013 Francois gunned down his lover, 44 year old Beauglais Bazelais, on the doorstep of his own home in North Miami-Dade County, Florida. Rather than claiming self-defense during a trial (Francois claimed that Beauglais was plotting to kill him with a powder concoction that he had in a bottle) Francois accepted a plea deal admitting to second degree murder. Prosecutors said that the case was complicated because of “religious undertones”; more specifically, that Bazelais reportedly was a voodoo priest who “charged money for casting spells and healing” and who had a room in his house specifically reserved for performing voodoo rituals, including animal sacrifice.
Bazelais, a “cross-dresser” had reportedly invited Francois, who was homeless, to live with him. Francois claims that Bazelais drugged him before they first had sex, although they went on to become lovers. Just a few hours before his death, Bazelais was reportedly in a cemetery to “collect souls for a voodoo ceremony”, returning home with another Haitian man and a “spirit”, and then calling Francois over (presumably for some sort of a twisted foursome).
Memo to the Folks: When they refer to Miami as “the Magic City” I do not think they are referring to that sort of magic.
