Unlike the case with most arrests, if you are taken into custody on a probation violation then you are NOT only NOT entitled to bond but you are also unlikely to get one.

There are many reasons for this but the main reasons usually are 1) punitive and 2) to encourage a resolution.

The punitive component is just what it sounds like. Most Judges and Prosecutors consider probation violations to be a provberbial slap in the face, and holding you without bond is a lawful way for them to draw some blood from the rock.

Also, by holding you without bond the overwhelming odds are that you will break and agree to a resolution, even a less favorable one, quicker if you are held on the inside as opposed to being outside and free.

Is this fair? Probably not, but it is reality.

If you are on probation then please, pretty please, follow these 2 rules: 1) Do what you are supposed to do (when and how you are supposed to do it) and 2) Do not do anything that you are not supposed to do.
