Can I get a State license with a pending criminal case?
3 part Answer:
1) First I suggest that you refocus. Don’t lose the forest through the trees. The immediate target should be beating your case, or at least disposing of it in such a way that maximizes your chances at being a non-handicapped citizen. Once the case is closed then you can worry about your licensing issues.
2) Once your case is closed you can apply, but whether or not you will be granted a given State license (whether to teach, or sell real estate, or to be a nurse, a massage therapist a beautician or for anything else, is not a criminal law question, is an administrative / regulatory / licensing question, and no lawyer can tell you whether or not you will be licensed.
So, if you want to increase your odds at getting a competent answer then you should ask the only folks who can provide you an answer, the relevant licencing agency
Finally, 3) When you apply a background check will be done, and, unfortunately, no lawyer can tell you either how thoroughly some other person / entity will go in conducting a background check or what such an examination may or may not reveal.
