“What Happens if I pick up a New Case while I’m out on Bond?”
It’s a standard condition of every bond that you not get rearrested for anything. You do not have to be rightfully or even lawfully rearrested for your existing bond to be revoked, and many times it is the mere fact of an arrest which prompts and justifies a Court to revoke an existing bond
The exact language can be found in FS 903.0471, which is entitled “Violation of condition of pretrial release”, and says: “A court may, on its own motion, revoke pretrial release and order pretrial detention if the court finds probable cause to believe that the defendant committed a new crime while on pretrial release”.
Other than the Judge having complete, utter and unfettered discretion there is no hard and fast rule when you pick up a minor offense, except that where you pick up a new felony charge while out on felony bond then your initial bond will almost universally be revoked.
You best bet at staying out is to a) have a skilled and experienced criminal defense lawyer efforting on your behalf, b) having your bondsman in court to advise the Court that s/he agrees to continue to honor your bond not withstanding your new offense and c) not to pick up a third law violation, no matter how minor it may be.
